What to expect before, during, and after your TriMend® session.

What is manual lymphatic drainage and why does it matter after surgery?
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a specialized, gentle form of massage that stimulates the lymphatic system to move fluid away from surgical sites. After a procedure, the body produces excess fluid and inflammatory byproducts that cause swelling, bruising, and discomfort. MLD accelerates their removal, reducing recovery time, minimizing fibrosis risk, and improving your visible results.
When should I schedule my first session after surgery?
The ideal window is 24 to 72 hours post-procedure for most surgeries. We encourage you to book your first appointment before your surgery date so we can confirm the timing with your surgeon and have a plan ready the moment you need it.
What kinds of surgery does TriMend® support?
We work with patients recovering from a wide range of procedures including liposuction, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), BBL (Brazilian butt lift), breast augmentation or reduction, mommy makeover, facelifts, and reconstructive surgeries. If you have a procedure not listed here, contact us, we are likely able to help.
Is the treatment painful? What should I expect during a session?
MLD is a gentle, light-pressure technique, it is not deep tissue massage. Most clients find it soothing and fall asleep during treatment. We adapt pressure and technique based on your current healing stage, surgical sites, and comfort level at every visit.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the type and extent of your surgery, your individual healing response, and your goals. Clients with a single-area procedure often see meaningful improvement in 3 to 4 sessions. Larger or multi-site surgeries may benefit from 6 to 10 sessions. We create a plan at your intake that gives you a realistic picture.
Do I need a referral from my surgeon to book?
No referral is required to book directly. Many of our clients find us independently. That said, if your surgeon is a TriMend® partner, they may coordinate your intake directly, which simplifies the process and ensures we have your procedure notes before your first visit.

How the TriMend® referral process works for your practice.

How does the referral process work?
Submit the Refer a Patient form below with your patient's procedure date and contact details. Our referral coordinator confirms receipt within one business day, reaches out to the patient directly, and handles scheduling from there. You are not responsible for any additional coordination.
What information do I need to provide when referring?
We ask for the patient's name, contact information, procedure type, surgery date, your practice name and your preferred contact. If you have specific post-op protocols or restrictions you want us to follow, note them in the referral form and our team will incorporate them into the patient's care plan.
Will I receive updates on my patient's progress?
Yes, with patient consent. We send a brief progress update after the patient's first session and at milestone points during their care. We keep communication focused and clinical, no noise, just the relevant details your team needs.
What protocols do your therapists follow?
Our therapists are trained in Vodder-method manual lymphatic drainage and medical massage. We follow evidence-based post-operative protocols and adapt care based on procedure type, stage of healing, and any contraindications noted by your team. We do not perform any treatment outside our scope.
Is there a formal partnership agreement required?
A formal agreement is not required to refer a patient. Many practices refer on a case-by-case basis first, and formalize a preferred partnership relationship once they've seen how we work. Contact us to discuss what a structured referral partnership looks like for your specific practice.
How quickly can you receive my patient after surgery?
We target intake within 24 to 72 hours of the procedure. For practices that refer patients in advance of their surgery date, we pre-schedule the first session so there is zero lag time. That is the ideal setup and we encourage it strongly.
